Be Extended is an ongoing evolving art project. The pieces are social sculptures inviting the audience to physically interact with the artwork. BE EXTENDED evolves through interaction with places, spaces and people.
BE EXTENDED started as a project to make an expanded art-experience in new arenas for the very young. The project soon developed into commenting on itself as well as communicating with a broader audience.
BE EXTENDED is a project with several spin offs and sub-projects diversifying into multiple artistic sectors flexible enough to accommodate different arenas.
Through active use of Go-pro cameras we have examined how children meet and interact with the sculptures. These observations and meetings creates a base for further reflections and development.
The art objects presently consists of 50 textile objects the largest measuring 16 meters. There are diverse video- and soundtracks with narrators. The elements can be seen as a whole or in parts.
The inspiration comes from the well worn home made rag doll and its body made from cloth. Created for a child to cherish. The old toys made from textiles are often well worn and have been repaired with love. These home made toys are in stark contrast to the consume of contemporary short lived toys.
